About The Case
Founding attorneys Michael Pitt (of Pitt, McGehee, Palmer, Bonanni & RIvers, P.C.) and Kenneth A. Stern (of Stern Law, PLLC), have filed a lawsuit against the State of Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE), and other entities and/or individuals., on behalf of Michigan residents who suffered property damage and other losses as a result of the Edenville and Sanford dam disaster.
The Michigan Constitution provides a unique avenue for you to sue the State of Michigan for damages or destruction to your property. If the State takes your property for a new highway you are of course entitled to fair compensation for the loss of your property. Likewise, you are also entitled to fair compensation if the State damages your property by its wrongful acts. Because the State’s deplorable conduct led to this disaster it must be held accountable. Our firms are committed to making sure the State accepts full responsibility for the harm it has caused you.
We believe this is the best way for you to receive compensation from the State. This remedy is not available in similar lawsuits filed in federal court.
